Where its all about the Beautiful Game!

SOCCER!!!
I'll try to get some more out here on this website as time permits. For now, I've got the schedule for the 2011 spring season. Its that time, so let's get ready to play!

Soccer Video Clips

I am part of a website that has all kinds of information about soccer and coaching soccer that I have used over the past few years as one of my many resources on continuing to learn how to be a better coach. In the not too distant past, they have started offering free video clips from many of the DVDs they recommend on their site. Now, I am not telling anyone to go buy any of these DVDs but I would encourage you to get your kids to watch some of the video clips. In my opinion, some are better than others but I haven't really seen any yet that are bad. Just like when I encourage everyone to go watch a soccer match, I believe there is a lot to be learned from "seeing" the game and, althought these are only clips, it could help the kids to see some of the things I try to teach them. Even if it doesn't actually teach them a new skill, it can make them aware and maybe open a discussion during practice about how to do some things.

Anyway, here are several links to some of these video clips. Once on the site, you can get to others:
Forward Runs in Front of the Ball
One Touch Passing
Receiving and Controlling the Ball
Turning With the Ball

3 v3 Attacking, Penetration, Width, Support, Stretching the Defense

I like to update my page periodically with inspiration/motivational, or sometimes "different" quotes. My current quote(s) are:
  • The goalkeeper is the jewel in the crown and getting at him should be almost impossible. It's the biggest sin in football to make him do any work. - George Graham

  • There's never a wrong time to do what's right. - Unknown
  • You can't learn if you don't make a mistake. - Unknown
  • It takes courage to stand up for what you believe in. - Unknown
