The Rockets are my U-7 boys team in the fall of 2007. We
will play 12 games over 10 weeks. I'm looking forward to a lot of fun
and excitement over the course of the season.

| 10/20/07 vs. Bombers |
|
The Rockets continued to show improvement this week and they played a hard
fought game against the Bombers. Although the game ended in a 2-1 loss, the
boys did a great job.
The Bombers scored their two goals early and then the Rockets held them scoreless for the rest of the game. The Rockets had several opportunities to score as well, they were either stopped or just went wide. That's just the way it goes sometimes and that's what makes the game exciting every time. I have to take a minute to give a great big KUDOS! to River for his play at Goalkeeper and especially at taking on a penalty kick against, probably, one of the biggest kids in our league this year. Facing a penalty kick is one of the hardest things to do in soccer and River did it AND saved the goal. Great job, River! Good job boys! Way to end the season! Those scoring in this game were:

The game got off to kind of slow start but the Rockets stepped it up and
were able to come away with a 4-3 victory.
I want to say the team we played was much better than the first time we played them. This just shows how much better we have gotten also. The boys are doing a fine job and we are worlds beyond where we were to start the season. I'd like to point out that this was Delson's last game with the Rockets (he is moving). He told me he wanted to get a goal in his last game so I put him out there, and he did. He got his first, and last, goal as a Rocket in this game. We also had two other players get their first goals of the season. Roary, after so many very, very, very close shots, finally hit the mark and got a goal. Cameron also got in the act with a very nice goal as well. Scoring the goals wouldn't mean anything though if we didn't keep the other team from scoring so a great big KUDOS goes out to the entire team for this victory. Those scoring in this game were:

The Rockets had a much better outing this weekend! Even though it was a loss,
it was by much less than the first time we played this team. The first game
was a 3-0 loss and this time it was 3-2 and, if not for a few wide shots, it
very well could have been the other way around.
Despite what it may sound like on the sidelines at times, I am very proud of all the boys and I just want them to keep having fun and playing hard. Those scoring in this game were:

Well, the team had a rough game this time, both on the scoreboard and
physically. The Rockets suffered a 4-1 defeat but they hung tough.
I have to point out one player for their outstanding performance in this game and that is John Riley for his play at Goalkeeper. He stopped many, many shots. Without his play, the score would have been much worse. Good going John Riley. To all the rest of the Rockets, just keep having fun and working hard! Those scoring in this game were:

The Rockets were down one man during this match but everyone played hard
and took up his slack to pull out a 4-3 victory. This was a tough game but
the boys stuck in there and pulled it out.
This was also an exciting game because we had three boys score goals that had not scored yet and we had several other opportunities. For those that haven't scored and especially those that have come so close, don't give up. Keep doing what you're doing and the goals will come. Those scoring in this game were:

All right! We did much better this week. This looked like a completely
different team out there. Everyone is doing much better. I also suspect
there is some soccer playing/practice going on away from the team games and
practices. Whatever it is, let's keep it up and remember KEEP HAVING FUN!!!
The Rockets took on and held a tough Bombers team for a 5-1 victory. Our goalkeepers did a great job. Our defense was almost impenetrable, and our offense kept pushing the ball. We had other opportunities to score but they went just a little wide. Keep trying and those goals will come. Those scoring in this game were:

Well, two weeks is too long not to play soccer during a season. It wasn't a
bad game, we just didn't need such a long break. That's OK, though, I still
think everyone had fun and we won't have that long of a break anymore.
The Rockets had a disappointing 8-3 loss but I want all of the boys to keep their heads up because they continue to play hard and things are getting better. I see improvement at each and every game. Also, the other team had one player that was just phenomenal and he has been putting it on just about everybody they play. Just keep having fun and playing hard and we are going to have a great season. We've still got eight more games to play! Those scoring in this game were:

All right! This was an entirely different team out there for this game. So
many players started stepping up and doing what we have been talking about.
I am so proud of the boys and so excited for the team and each of the boys as well.
We outscored the other team 5-1. More importantly, though, is how hard everyone
played and that they are starting to learn what I have been trying to teach them.
Again, I am very proud and very excited. We will cover some things in our practices but I am encouraged. Just keep playing! Those scoring in this game were:

Another rough game! We got outscored 3-0 but everyone still played hard
and they still seemed to have fun! We'll just keep doing what we're doing
and things will get better. Remember, playing is the best teacher. Let's
get 'em next time!

The Rockets got off to a little rough start but the guys were starting to
get some of it by the end of the game. We lost 3-1 but it was a great game
because everyone played hard and I believe everyone had fun. I'm really
excited to see how things progress as the season moves on.

Get to playing! Get out and play around. Don't worry about practicing, drilling, or anything like that. Right now play is the best teacher and it keeps the game fun, as it should be. Just play!
