The Strikers are my 2009 U-10 boys team. This season is going to bring us into a whole new level of soccer.
For the first time, our division will consist of two years worth of players. This means we will be
playing with some older boys but that's OK. We're going to have fun, play hard, and we will learn.
I'm excited and looking forward to the upcoming season and I can't wait to get out on the pitch! Let's
have a good season, encourage the boys to have fun but to learn and apply what they are being taught. If
that is done, this will be a successful season.

Strikers vs. Thunderbolts

The Strikers had a much better showing this week! It looks like the boys are starting to get
some of the rust knocked off and they came out and played a good game to come away with a
3-1 victory.
The boys did a great job of keeping the opponent away from our goal and, when they did get through, our keepers did a great job of protecting the goal and clearing the ball. John started the scoring with a soft touch off his left foot that snuck it's way through many defender's feet and into the goal near the end of the first half. The second half saw an explosion of scoring opportunities. While only two more shots actually found their mark, there were many, many shots that just barely missed, with some rebounding off the post and crossbar. With that kind of shooting taking place, the goals will come. Clay and Brandon were able to round out the scoring in this game by finding their mark late in the second half. Great job guys! I expect to get better and better as the season goes along. Keep playing hard and having fun! Scoring Summary (with those assisting):

8/22/09 vs. Wave

The Strikers got their first game out of the way and they did well. They were able to
come away with a 3-3 tie against a good team.
Brandon, Clay, and Walter provided the goals for the Strikers but it takes a team effor to not only get goals and get people into scoring position but to keep the other team out of our goal. There are things we are going to work on and we're going to get better as the season goes on. I was proud of the boys. We got down by a couple of goals but they kept pushing and were able come back and tie up the score. We were just inches away from the go ahead goal when Clay made a pass up front to Dakota but we got called for an offsides penalty. (That was my bad because I didn't get to go over that before the game.) Great job guys! Let's keep working hard, having fun, and learning and we're gonna have a good season.
